"I created the Library I couldn’t find for my daughter.."

When Clara was born, we knew we wanted her to grow up speaking both Portuguese and English. It was so important to us that she would have our culture, speak the language, and always be able to communicate with her family. But finding Portuguese children’s books in the UK was far harder than I ever expected. Every time we went to Portugal, we would make trips back and forth just so we could practice reading and storytelling in Portuguese, and not only in English like at nursery and with the books you can find everywhere here.

That is when Clara’s Little Library came to life. I knew I couldn’t be the only parent who felt this way. I knew so many parents were turning to TV or screen time simply because they didn’t have access to books or toys in the languages their children needed in the UK.

So I created this as a heartfelt answer to a problem so many bilingual families across the UK have been quietly facing. We are a small business, and we hope to bring joy, connection, and the right stories to families like ours.

WHY IT MATTERS

Started by one mum who could not find books in her native language. Built for every family who feels the same.

  • Roots and Identity

Language carries everything, roots, family, identity, and a sense of belonging that lasts a lifetime.

  • Family Bonds

Thousands of miles can separate a family but language is what keeps them close and connected.

  • Open Minds

Children raised with more than one language develop a natural openness to other cultures and people.

  • Chosen with Love

Curated by someone who knows what a book in the right language can do for a baby, toddler and child.

What a discovery! Clara's little library was a great find! The books are age appropriate for my little one and he loves them. The books themselves are great quality and really good value for money. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for new releases!

I’m so happy I came across Clara’s Little Library! I’d been searching everywhere for Portuguese children’s books (the struggle is real 🤣) and was so excited to find such a lovely local business.

My order arrived super quickly and was beautifully presented and wrapped. You can really tell how much thought and care goes into everything. I’m so glad I found you and will definitely be ordering again. Such a lovely small business with a beautiful concept! 💓🇵🇹📚

I’ve ordered a few times from from here and both times really pleased with the books my little one is also really engaged with them! I do struggle with finding books that are Portuguese written in Portuguese from Portugal so this was a breath of fresh air and it’s a great addition to our little bilingual family
